Installation...

Post by inv_user » Wed Nov 03, 2004 6:14 pm

i'm having trouble getting the mod to run on my computer. i extracted all the files into my diablo 2 folder and then made a shortcut to the 'underkill' extension. my diablo 2 folder is located in my program files so i went ahead and changed the properties of the shortcut to match, but when i try to apply these changes it tells me that:

"The name 'C:\Program' specified in the target box is not valid."

so apparently it's failing to recognize the word "files" after "program". anyone know how to get around this?

Ok, I'm no expert on computers and this interweb thingie, but I DO want you to play, so I'll try to help! :)

What version of windows are you running? It might be the case that you need to write the filepath without spaces.

I think it would be something like this: C:\PROGRA~1\DIABLO~1\UNDERKILL

Actually, just make a shortcut of Diablo II.exe and add "-direct -txt" (without the quotes) after ...Game.exe" and add "Underkill" (again, without the quotes) after .../Diablo II/" (but inside that final quote) in the Start In: field.

i'm running windows '98 and typing this:

"C:\PROGRA~1\DIABLO~1\UNDERKILL"

in the "target" area did the trick.

thanks alot, man. i never, ever would've figured that out on my own.

now i'll get to playing and give you some feedback later on.

i think you forgot to add a " infront of it and your target is now:

c:\program files\diablo ii\etc" -direct -txt

where it should be:

"c:\program files\diablo ii\etc" -direct -txt

notice the " infront of the location
