Maximum skill levels

Post by Ulara » Sat Feb 18, 2006 8:29 pm

Do all the skills totally max out on level 20 (or can they maybe go higher after a certain character level is reached)?

20 is still the maximum of skill points you can put into a skill regardless of your level, nothing changed there compared to vanilla.

There are, however, items which give a higher +skills mod than there were in vanilla, so you have the potential to get above the vanilla levels by a few skills eventually.

Yup, strictly according to the manual for worshippers of elusive electronic deities. ;)

Is there anything left for this topic then? The quetion has been answered I think. But we can always try: My opinion on the current skill level limit is that it should stay. You can still get higher than normal as I explained earlier. In addition, the mod focusses more on multiple specialisations at once (through more [element/physical]-immunities), so you're already forced to spread out your skillpoints (although this is countered by skill potions and potion gambling etc, but that's all mainly important for the higher levels really). If you can also attain over 20 skillpoints per skill, then this would create the problem that some build can potentially get overly powerful (skill-based builds obviously), and if that is fixed by upping the difficulty, then it conflicts more with the spreading of skillpoints that you need to be able to take on this mod in the first place.

In other words: I think that the 20 max is good as it is, and I don't see any particular reason why it should be changed.
