I confirm this. It is the skill "Cold Cry" which was previously a cry that made monsters run away from you in fear. In Awakening it has frost graphics but they are totally useless and do nothing, even the previous howling effect is disabled.[/quote]

I just tried to make a unique Mage Cloak with a rare Mage cloak + Unique Key + Unique Chest and it just spawned a new rare.
Is this because there is no unique version of mage cloak or is something wrong with the recipe?
If there is no unique would it be possible to make the recipe not work with items that have no unique version? Because it took me forever to find that key and chest and now they are gone for no good.

.....there aren't so many tfw unique items (based on tfw item).

installation or readme issue

installed diabloII + expansion
created awakening folder
copyed the selfextraction package(awakening.exe)
installed it, after that used patch a2p17

if i start the game with the lounching script, i didn't get the gamfix.dll load confirmation

but all other confirmations are right (imagehlp.dll, skillprereq.dll, tfw.dll, a valid load of tfw had been confirmed)
additional i got a MercDesc.dll load.

works the installation correct?


game seems that it works fine, but most critters are realy weak (1 or 2 hit kills with lightning sorc), except for lightning enchanted ones, which can be tougher than andariel, druiel, mephisto and diablo.
they are realy weak compared to any other mod or vanilla.
maby lightning sorc is overpowerd on normal difficult, that will hopefully changing fast at nm.

Something odd is happening with the module registration, I see in my most recent debug files that tfw.dll itself is not registering...but it is clearly loaded. So although you don't see GemFix on your list, I bet it is there. The quick way to tell is, do the gem mods each have their own line, in sections by item type? Or do the mods appear like they do in vanilla D2?

As for why your foes seems weak, it might depend on whether you have a higher-powered character (and/or stronger gear) in an earlier part of the game. Most people haven't complained about weak opposition. It is likely the lightning tree is overpowered.

gems are reported in that way

gem name (white)
fury games, runes, gems&jewels: can be inserted into socketed items (blue)
Fury gems: can be transmuted into normal, superior, magical, rare an dcrafted items (green)
weapons, rings & gloves:(blue); abilitys (white)
armors & boots....
helms & amulets...
shields & belts....

realy large window, a bit smaller than 1/4 of the screen

its not the vanilla typo

gem abilitys are changed correct.

fury gems are reported in the same way, except they can't be used in all itemtypes

maybe lightning musst be so strong to work at hell act 5 - likly normal behavior on nearly 100% skill based dmg - my foult, but act bosses are compareable to lighnting enchanted uniques

The Fury Gems message on all gems is just standard tbl file editing, but the multiline breakout of weapons, armor, helm and shield attributes is GemFix at work. So your debug file is showing the same anomaly as mine.

Just wondering what level your Sorc is, which act she is in, and what skills she uses.

played to act 3 with players 1 than changed to players 2 and since act 5 with players 4

its simply spamming lightning all over. its slow cast, but the effected area huge and average dmg good.

in act 1 i'll tried a merc, but it dies instandly by these vail-archers, i'm to. dicided to go back for some exp. started to use new tactics against thouse archers, running away until they started to move, than used lightning to kill them (1 or 2 hits are enough - rarely more hits for realy crappy low hits)

andy died nearly like a normal champ or unique - was done with a maximum of 15 hits, maybe 10 - didn't used static

act 2 bought merc tried sewers - thouse fire-archers were to strong, dicided to explore the desert first

scarbs died with 1 lightning except low hits, other critters too
my merc didn't get any chance against the lightning show, performed by scarbs. needed many potions - evading meens no casting spells - but potions drops alot (thx to many many uniqus and champs)

before getting heroticstaff?(questitem) went back to sewers, kept archers moving when possible, they are stong but dieing fast

since canyon of the magi, collected about 95xx kills, dicided to get 10k before killing duril

it was possible to stay in meele range against duril, but i dicided runing and teleporting - died fast - but i can't remeber if i used static

act3 nothing special, critters died fast (with players2 since here)
only mephistos cold attack was dangerous took about 40-70% of my life
static, lightning, maybe some meteors - fight didn't take 2 minutes


act4 still killing fast, strongest oponents are thouse caster-knights, they inflict nice dmg at meele - cast dmg from them low (got nice rare shield(new item, bronze shield) with high res, used stocking recipe, added 2 diamonds and 15res all juwel, 55 blocking chance(improved blocking))
meet them at plains of dispiare

balrogs-typ critter: maybe inferno range a bit short?

diablo, same like andy, duril and mephisto

act5 started to play with players4
toughness of most oponents seems to be ok

sorc lvl 54
def 319 with frozen armor lvl14 622
43%block chance (shield 55%)
321 life, 548 mana
52 75 75 74 res

skills: mainly used lightning (see quote), 33warmth 14 frozen armor 10 meteor, 5 fire 7 lightning mastery - skill boni counted in

I saw someone write in but got no response so I will second. I have tried twice to cube the staff and ammy for act 2 quest, and both times the gmae just auto closes. I am running d2 ver 1.10s, on WinXP. Everything else has played well so far. I admit it took me longer than I epected to set things up on install, but past that it has been a breeze. I always open the file for 110. I dont think 111 will even open for me. Any thoughts? I have cubed several other things including mod specific fury gems all with perfect success.

*edit* I have found what I believe to be the source of my problem. 1.10s is the beta ver. I may have been lucky to get the game going as far as I did. I will download 1.10 final tonight and hope for the best.

650% might be a bit high sounding, but remember no matter how high you see it, the effective resistance is capped at 95% regardless. Excess resistance is useful for the penalty in Unleashed Fury and when some Conviction-spreading boss is around you. Heck, it might even help against the Conviction + Lightning Enchanted types.

I Found a Bug But this may be my fault,i installed all like i was supposed to
and it all goes fine till i start playing. About 5-10 minutes into it(u no when u start to get interested)the game freezes :twisted: so i press my windows key
(to minimize the Game) and it says unhandled exception access violation
(c000005)ive checked and it doesnt say theres a problem opening a fiel so im not sure wats up?

Just now found magical Arrows with suffix "of Stocks" [increased stack size].

Its maximum quantity is limited to 300, while usual arrows without this suffix are capped at 500.

Also, Charsi in Act I [at least in Anger Arising] sometimes doesn't have arrows and bolts in her inventory.

Normal quivers go to 500, but magical quivers only go to 250. The problem is, if you get the "of stocks" suffix and no prefix, then you have what amounts to a normal quiver of 250 plus the stocks adder, but it is really still a magical quiver. If you get a quiver with a prefix and a suffix, then the "of stocks" suffix would be more worthwhile.

Vendor stocks don't always include miscellaneous items in mods with many weapons and armor items. This is a problem with the vendor code, which is anything but straightforward. I don't have plans to address that until I get some more important codework done, and finish the maps this mod needs.

hey i was playing tfw mod and got 2 chars lvl 4x, but now when i enter character screen the chars is gone and the chars from my normal d2 appears instead.
got an answer to my problem? best regards ;D

should it be "set chest" and "green key"?

Ahhh...the joys of copy-paste! Yes, the set recipe should use Sets Chest and Green Key. Also, right above it, the crafted recipe should use Crafted Chest and Orange Key. The game data is correct, just the readme recipes are wrong.
