the mystery box
Here is a new concept idea I got. It's mostly a cube related system.
First, on character creation you start with a mystery box. (see screenshot above)
There will be hundreds of recipes related to the box.
The box recipes won't be listed in the documentation, players have to experiment the box.
when you succeed to open the box, the box opens and disappear. but there is a recipe to recover a new box. (which is listed in the documentation)
the rewards when you open the box, can be some special items, uniques or rare cube reagents. You also can use the box to upgrade some items.
some recipes will spawn a clue scroll, revealing some information not listed in the documentation, see screenshot:
Here is an example of recipe: put the box in the cube and press transmute 5 times.
box opens on the 5th transmute leaving a clue scroll.
I will also make some recipes that open the box, but give no rewards at all.
There are also some recipes which will totally lock the box, making it useless. So you have to spawn a new box by the box recover recipe.
when the mod is released, I will create a sticky topic, where players can share what they achieved with the box.
So, what you guys think of the idea?
for those who want the base scroll graphic used, just send me a message. I have it in .dc6 and .bmp. It's a 5 x 7 scroll graphic (width x height).

Re: the mystery box
Sounds like lots of fun.
I think I might have to use an idea something like that.
Most people will probably think of hitting the transmute button over and over, so I have a suggestion.
The box should spawn the item in x clicks, however, the item it spawns should disappear if the transmute button is hit again.
That way, they can't just mash the mouse button
Just a suggestion.

Re: the mystery box
you could also fiddle with a ton of op's and random combinations.
lets say every transmute click adds +1 to stat (an op check for another formula)
then with a stam potion + 5 stat box = a random low level rune. if it were 6, a random low level gem. or you could randomize the recipes even more.

Re: the mystery box
imo there's nothing wrong with more recipes.
sometimes the more the better, but also depending on how you use them.
i have 3 sets of mystery gifts, each one spawns with a random stat up to 200 each. you do the math.

Re: the mystery box
yes I was joking
it's just that with op stats there will be infinite possibilities.
but I could do some
