Hi everyone!
I was wondering if there's any access to the 3d version of diablo 2's models. From my understanding, blizzard made 3d models and rendered them as 2d right? If there's no trace of the original models, does anyone know what was used to make them? I'm assuming it was 3ds max, but I was wondering if anyone could be more specific on just how they were made.
Thanks!

You cant obtain the files from blizzard unless you actually work for them, even then I highly doubt they will let you touch a 12 year old game.
Anyways, how they were made is just like any other 3d model now.
Mesh that is skinned and rigged.

Of course, like Black_Eternity mentioned, you can't have access to the 3D models.
There is 3 pages that composes this article.Characters and monsters, such as this Vampire, were created in 3D Studio Max. An in-house tool would render the files from many different angles (eight for all monsters, 16 for player characters), and export them in the file formats used in the game.
Of course, like Black_Eternity mentioned, you can't have access to the 3D models.
DT1 Tools - DS1 Editor - MPQ list file - Extracting D2 Animation - Adding ANY Monsters and ANY Objects to a DS1 - New monster color variations from scratch
