Re: Assertion Failure

is the error in 1.00b?

I know exactly what the problem is, but I need a bit more info to fix it. What class(es) is/are causing the crash?

Skill Suggestions

Post by reiyo_oki » Mon Apr 05, 2004 9:36 pm

Post any skill suggestions here. Be aware that I am limited (for the most part) to the original D2 and LoD animations for skills, but I may be able to get some from BGII:ToB as well. I may also be able to get some NWN animations if I can find a good extractor for it

ok, I'll see what I can do. I'm almost positive the problem is related to the number of skills each class has.

BTW, you should try reloading the characters after youu first create them. Sometimes the game is weird and works fine after an initial creation error.

I can't transform

Post by The Golden dragon » Tue Apr 06, 2004 5:47 pm

I'm playing version 1.04 as a Golden Dragon, but I can't transform into a one. I just keep running around in human form. Is the transform ability a quest reward, or aren't you able to rtansform at all?

some of the transformations were bugged in 1.04a. You should download 1.03a, I believe they all work in that one. You should also note that 1.00b IS out, but it has a major bug with character creation.

skills problem

Post by Malachai29 » Wed Apr 07, 2004 10:40 pm

downloaded the 1.01b and installed, started to play a black dragon first, but ran into problems with the skills. I decided to try a air elemental, but when I put a skill point into it, got the skill of twister, and couldnt use it. Also found with the green dragon that some skills are unusable in any form, such as firestorm, armageddon, hurricane...when I put a point into summon spirit wolf, it gave me carrion vine.

Havent played too much, just long enough to get the black and green dragons to about level 10 or so.

Also, the gold bar that the characters start with that says to sell for 5000 gold can only be sold for 1 gold.

The skills issues are a bit odd, but are caused by the fact that I re-enabled the default skills for all characters.
The unuseable ones for the green dragon are MEANT for the red dragon (as they are fire skills...)
The problem with getting the wrong skill when you place points is because I accidentally overlapped some skills.
To get the gold bar to work, simply right-click it. I forgot to change the string for that.

I will release an update patch for 1.01b to fix most of these bugs, no worries :D

Seriously though, you should at least test it first before you release something, you can never know what may go wrong, so far it is a major bug per release...

I do test stuff before I release a new version, but I don't always check all the classes. Also, some bugs just slip past me. The bugs that DO get past me are usually for the classes I don't test.

To explain the skill problems:

just about every class has skills I intend to move to other classes, I just haven't moved them yet. There are also some skills that are buggy, but I am constantly working on them. The breath and nova skills are an example.

I can just disable them in the patch, this will eliminate the skill overlap problem. I also plan on moving all the skills to the classes where they belong.

Transformation Change Idea

Post by reiyo_oki » Mon Apr 12, 2004 6:22 pm

POLL ENDS FRIDAY! If I still have a majority vote for changing to half-dragons at that time, I will do it.

I am considering changing the transformations to have the normal ones be half-dragon, and the secret/ultimate one be a full dragon. This would fit more appropriately IMO, as, according to logic, a half-blood would be less powerful than a full-blood dragon. This would also allow for some more interesting skill designs like supreme skills for the full dragons. (Ultima, Nega-Pulse, etc)

Let me know what you think...

This is what I was suggesting along time ago....
.   Something alot like dragon disciples...
Too bad you only have access to chromatic dragons, it would be sweet to have some more of them as Metalic Dragons. Especially since it's hard to get a true Gold. They are supposed to be a lot like Chi'en Lung, only all gold. That is, if you're going for D&D dragons.

Re: Transformation Change Idea

Post by reiyo_oki » Tue Apr 13, 2004 5:45 pm

actually, I got the idea from Breath of Fire IV, where all the transformations are into half-dragon form, and you only go into full-dragon form when performing special attacks (mostly these are ultimate and breath skills)

EDIT

As to the matter of metallic dragons, I am attempting to shrink and realign the IWD2 Silver Dragon model for use in the mod. This is taking longer than I thought it would though, especially since the cvdcc addon for cv5 doesn't automatically align animations based on mouse clicks...I'm just finishing up the attack, death, and corpse anims, the cast, neutral, and gethit shouldn't be that hard now.

Note for Infinitum team: Once I get the model working I will submit the files for your archives. It will include a new token, non-token specific dcc's, and gif files.

Re: Status Updates

Post by reiyo_oki » Wed Apr 14, 2004 8:31 pm

Just a little news for anyone who's anxious:

-Changed title music, as well as the music for some of the towns
-Added a new transformation (not really new, just finally got around to enabling it) Infinity, this is the ultimate transformation, it gives access to special skills that can only be used in that form.
-I'm working on a new dragon animation to add to the mod, its a silver dragon from IWD2/BGII (not sure which)
-Considering converting BGII Woukeen's Promenade for use in one of the acts.
-Revamping skills to fit half-dragon basis
-Brainstorming new skills for full-dragon transformation

first, and foremost, are you running LoD 1.10?
Next, do you have Visual Basic Runtime installed?

If you don't have VB Runtime installed, that would explain why you can't launch the mod. To run it WITHOUT VB Runtime, use the -direct -txt method. You should be able to find a tutorial around here somewhere on that, I think there's one in the tutorials section.
