I have just completed a first version of a plugin for the GIMP.
Unfortunately, it only works on Windows (I don't know how to build for Linux, etc).
You can download it here
Please let me know of any issues or problems.
(At the moment, it only supports single framed, small images)

Hopefully, will have large image support by then (At the moment, can load, working on saving)
EDIT: Okay, large, multiframe image support enabled (think of InvChar6.dc6). It is available for download here. Hopefully this'll get passed to fileplanet soon.
Any bugs, comments, etc, feel free to IM me (if kind), or post here if you want to expose me to public ridicule.
